We enter this year’s WTM following a flurry of news about the air passenger duty increases, a subject that has been much ignored and little understood.

Whilst many believe this new ‘green tax’ will result in a sudden increase in flight costs, the reality is this legislation was formed years ago and airlines have been building costs in to flights well in advance of 1 November 2010, when the hikes came in to effect.

Economic uncertainty continues but the reality is very few Brits will give up their national institution, the annual holiday. Watch this space for further market updates.
